About Me

Hi, I’m Monica. I’m an actor currently living in the Bay Area, planning to move to New York in 2022. I’ve just completed my 3rd and final year of graduate school at American Conservatory Theater at the beginning of the pandemic in 2020.

I am a first generation Chinese-American. Growing up in an eastern household in a western culture, it took me a while to understand my feelings and how to express them.

Apart from my acting skills, I am also an accountant as well. I enjoy number crunching and find it pairs excellently with acting work.

I love cooking for my friends, knitting, thrift shopping, and pugs.

Artistic statement: Celebrating the Outsider

I have a complicated relationship with loneliness and being alone. Some of the physical, emotional, and social qualities I possess make me feel misunderstood. It is simultaneously universal and isolating at the same time. Lots of people seem to feel the same way, but find it too vulnerable to speak about it in real life. Acting is a place where I feel safe to check in with the otherness that is constantly with me. Every character I've played has traits that set them apart from others in some way. I enjoy introducing audiences to characters who ultimately highlight the eccentricities in themselves. This is how I honor and celebrate the outsider in myself.
